FEAR Conquered
This collection prominently features various shades of yellow, symbolizing hope and warmth. For some time, I've been intrigued by the idea of exploring a darker theme in my work. I decided to focus on fear, a universal human experience. As is my custom, I express these ideas through my drawings. I completed three illustrations. The first depicts a woman who appears mentally unhinged. She seems restrained and paralyzed, covering her mouth with her hands while her bloodshot eyes are wide open. Upon closer inspection, a symbol is visible on her hand: a cross worn by Catholic warriors during the Crusades, representing strength and courage. This juxtaposition suggests that although she's currently overwhelmed by life's challenges, she hasn't surrendered hope.My second drawing features a mockingbird with tail feathers forming the same cross symbol. This piece draws inspiration from "The Hunger Games" movie series, where the mockingbird symbolized hope for the districts. Research revealed that it's also a common emblem of courage. The third illustration, perhaps the most unconventional, is my personal favorite. It shows two hands reaching forward, attempting to grasp a cross. The cross's shadow is highlighted on the left palm. These hands break through clouds, representing life's obstacles. The image suggests that the person has finally found courage. Three butterflies accompany the hands, symbolizing luck and good fortune.
